MARMA POINTS

A Marma point is the junction between physiology and consciousness

Marmas are subtle energy points described in Ayurveda. There are a total of 107 Marma points in the body. The points were mentioned in detail centuries ago in the Sushruta Samhita, a classic Ayurvedic text. Major Marma points correspond to the seven Chakras, or energy centres of the body. The points cover both the front and back of the body, including 22 on the lower extremities, 22 on the arms, 12 on the chest and stomach, 14 on the back, and 37 on the head and neck. In ancient Vedic times, Marma points were called Bindu – a dot, secret dot or mystic point. Activating a Marma point opens into the inner pharmacy of the body. Touching a Marma point changes the body's biochemistry.

Marma points are located and measured by the finger widths, called Anguli. Unlike the tiny, pin-pricked-sized points in comparable therapies, like acupuncture, Marma points are relatively large and easy to find.

MARMA MASSAGE

Stimulating or massaging the Marma points gives benefits to the area of their locations and improves the function of the connecting organs. The Marma massage itself is approximately 60 minutes of duration. TheMarma Massage can be used as part of a rejuvenation therapy or it could be used as a preventative measure from unwanted conditions. Either way, Marma Massage is a magical tool to maintain and enhance individual health.

The idea behind massaging the Marma points is to remove blocked energy to restore the Doshas to their original seats. Specific oils are used for specific Marma points.
